"Recently, my mother had to have a surgery in Des Moines, and we are from Fort Dodge (about 1 ½ hour drive). On our way to DSM we experienced some car troubles. After almost not making it to the hospital, we decided we’d better have it looked at. My Dad dropped us off, and set out to find a mechanic. Not knowing the area, and having to try and find a solution prior to 2 p.m. was going to be impossible, that is until he found Merill Axle and Wheel Services. Located in the heart of downtown DSM we figured there would be no way to have the work we needed complete by the time she was done. The surgery was one where the patient needed to get home right away, so I started making arrangements for someone to drive from Fort Dodge to get us and looking into car rentals.
